Brief Introduction to the Group

The Photonics Group at Mackenzie University is probably the newest Optical Fiber communication group in the state of São Paulo. We are located at the capital (São Paulo) which is the largest and richest city in whole Latin America. Despite that fact we are the first group at the capital to work in Optical Fiber communications. Our intention is to attend a very high demand of students and companies in the city.

The group has been working in systems and devices simulations since the year 2000. Recently, we created the Mackenzie Photonics Laboratory (MPL) to extend our activities and to give broader perspective/education to all students in our Graduation Program.  

Our scientific interests are motivated by the fact that optical communications systems are becoming ultrafast and in few years systems with pulses shorter than 1 picosecond of duration will be available.
